#IAmACheerleader : What does that mean?

I am a Cheerleader

Valentine’s day is just around the corner and I am still single…

(Now I am not going to dwell on any negativity as God is in control and I will fall in love with the girl that God has for me in due time.)

You may have seen me using the hashtag #IAmACheerleader a lot on my Instagram and you may even be wondering what I meant by it. #IAmACheerleader is my state of mind: for everything I post, for everything I share and for everything I do, I want to be cheering on others.

That is why when you look at my Instagram and Social Media, you see me sharing images of my friends, family and people I love because I want to show them love and respect.

Being a cheerleader is a great practice: it’s a way to celebrate the people around you and lift them up. We live in a world that thrives on negativity, slander and gossip, so being encouraging, being uplifting is purely an act of defiance. Being a cheerleader is being defiantly supportive, uplifting and honest in spite of the negativity that plagues our world.

My goal is to continue to cheer others on in the hope that they will do the same and pass it on.

This blog post is short but it is an important one to me because this describes my outlook on life. This may also make sense of why I am not a blogger that posts solely about themselves, there’s nothing wrong with that, but that’s simply not who I am.

So long live being a cheerleader and I hope you join me on this journey. Just brighten someone’s day by being kind to them with no ulterior motive, simply just because.

Let’s be Cheerleaders together!

Modern Map Art Review

You may – or may not – already know this about me but I love art!

I guess it’s a mixture of my love for style and patterns that makes me love art even more. I completely admire my friends who can draw or paint or design, It’s a talent that I am trying to learn.

After seeing these beautiful maps from Modern Map Art, I had to get my hands on one.

The sheer detail and beauty of cartography is probably the most overlooked art form. We have had maps for centuries to help us find our way but never once have we look at them as the artistic pieces that they really are.

This map did not come with this frame (£5.99 from Wilko) but this is a gift for the minimalist or the fashion conscious. And will make a perfect edition to every living room, office or bedroom!

However, their site is filled to the brim with beautiful wall art & gifts for everyone.

You need to get one and here’s how you do so. Just click HERE

You’ll be taken to the website and then your journey can truly begin.

Men, Boys, Brothers… We need to start talking!

After watching BBC 3’s Breaking the Mould – Professor Green : Suicide and Me, I feel very compelled to tell all men everywhere that we need to start taking. Stephen Manderson’s (AKA Professor Green) father Peter commit suicide after becoming isolated after his brother commit suicide.

Please do watch this documentary,

There is a bit of explicit language but its worth the watch.

It’ll be on Iplayer for about a week, I think, so watch it now.

Men, it doesn’t make you less manly to share your emotions, it doesn’t make you less manly to cry. We are deserve to be able to show our emotions because if we don’t show them and we hide them inside because we think they are insignificant, suicide could happen. As men, we want to seem strong and we don’t want to show our vulnerable side.

If you watch this documentary, you will see how Prof Green allows himself to be vulnerable. This is something that we as Men need to do. If we don’t get these emotions out, these emotions will eat at you like parasites – I am telling you this from experience.

Whilst watching this, it touched a nerve… Okay, several nerves and it made me quite emotional. I feel, and this may just be me, but I feel that we should be teaching our young boys and girls to talk. I am not just limiting this to boys, this is for girls too. We all need to talk. But I am targeting men because suicide is our biggest killer, not cancer, not violence, not gun crime – It’s Suicide.

This is a short post but if I can get anything through to anyone reading my blog, it is this: We as human beings need to talk.

God bless you and have a lovely evening.

Some lessons I’ve learned recently…

So, this post is going to be about friendships and relationships. I hope you enjoy it and are inspired by it.

Chasing after friends is honestly a waste of time. If you can’t be yourself and feel comfortable in front of them, then they were never real friends. I’ve also found out that sometimes friendships break down without any explanation. Neither party in the friendship has done anything wrong, it’s just time taking its course.

We have some people in our lives for a reason and some for the season. That’s just the way it goes sometimes. And if you hold on to those seasonal friendships, you will – 9 times out of 10 – end up hurt. And we don’t want that, do we?

I’m sure we’ve all been rejected from something. From a job, from a friendship group, from someone that you fancied – it’s happened to us all. But (And I’d never thought I’d say this, bearing in mind that I’m not comfortable with rejection) rejection can be a good thing.

For example, if you fancied someone who you didn’t know too well but you were fascinated by them and you finally got the chance to go out with them and then you find out they are actually vile, arrogant, possessive and egotistical, wouldn’t you have preferred to rejected first?

Rejection can be painful at the time but sometimes it can lead you onto a better path. Think about it like when you put antiseptic in a wound. It hurts a lot initially but then it heals nicely.

These are just a few things I’ve learned recently which I thought was quite inspiring.

I hope you’re having a blessed day.

Inspirational update

Hi everyone,

I’ve been away for a while as I’ve had exams and then I had a free spell so I had time to work on my book and some poetry (Which I’ll hopefully be telling you about a lot more soon) and that has been nice but I’m back to talk to you guys:

So lately, I’ve been working on myself mentally, trying to gain more confidence. And whatever I have done has seemed to work. I’ve been trying to (emphasis on trying to) exercise regularly – cycling everywhere, walking everywhere and going to the gym occasionally – and looking at myself in the mirror and finding places on my body that I love and ones that I don’t.

The ones I love are:

  1. My Eyes
  2. My Eyebrows
  3. My Arms etc.

You get the picture. And the things I don’t are:

  1. My Thigh Fat
  2. My Belly Fat
  3. My Teeth

Again, you get the picture. But the longer I did this, the more things I found that I loved about myself. I’ve learned techniques like this from http://www.selfesteemteam.org/ when they came to my school. It seems to have worked.

Please go and check them out and I hope you are inspired by them as much as I have been.

Be Blessed, Happy and Beautiful!
